The Sidewinder L-TX GT EPS has earned a reputation among seasoned, high-mileage riders for its rock-solid performance and practical comfort. The addition of Yamaha's Variable Electric Power Steering (EPS) rewrites the definition of a top trail-performance snowmobile. EPS takes the fight out of muscling the powerful turbo through twisty trails--but it doesn't stop there. EPS also isolates the rider from unwanted handlebar resistance fed back through the mechanical steering system from inconsistencies in the trail. The resulting light steering effort and handling precision is unrivaled when it comes to long days in the saddle. Suspension comfort, responsive throttle and reliable power top the list of priorities for long distance rides.

The medium smoked polycarbonate windshield was designed to shield the high-mileage rider from the coldest days. The windshield incorporates a small lip at the top to deflect wind and snow up and over the rider at speed, while flared edges provided added protection and warmth for your hands. The GT windshield was also designed to accommodate optional mirrors. The windshield is thicker than standard windshields to reduce mirror vibration at speed and features pre-marked indents for an easy installation of the accessory mirrors. A convenient heated visor DC RCA outlet is accompanied by a DC socket style plug to power up or charge your devices simultaneously. A standard heated seat provides the ultimate in warmth and comfort on even the coldest winter days. A simple flip of the dash-mounted switch enables the choice of two warmth settings, allowing you to explore what lies beyond that next curve from sun-up to sundown in complete comfort. Full-featured and easy to read, the digital gauge displays critical information in a glance including speed, fuel level, trip mileage, tach, elevation, temperatures and more. Changing functions is made easy with the switch controls on the left handlebar. We even included a clock so you can watch the time fly. Convenient handlebar positioning makes starting, shifting to and from reverse easy with just the push of your thumb. A servo motor shifts the drivetrain into reverse simply and consistently. An audible warning beeper reminds you when you are still in reverse. Additional storage is provided by a convenient tunnel bag. The semi-rigid design is easy to access and water resistant to keep your spares safe and dry. Quarter-turn, quick release fasteners are provided to make removal a snap.
YAMAHA VARIABLE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING -
'EPS': Yamaha introduced EPS for snowmobiles in 2011 pioneering the innovative technology that both reduces steering effort and increases steering precision. The newest generation has reduced weight by over three pounds and incorporates a 'brushless' DC motor. No brushes to wear out means greater reliability and much better thermal performance or ability to maintain full output power for longer periods of time. Variable assist EPS utilizes a magnetic torque sensor to measure steering input based on torsion or 'twist' of the steering post resulting from handlebar input combined with ski resistance. The contactless, magnetic torque sensor supplies this data to an integrated control module which in turn, signals the brushless servo-motor to assist the steering through its powered, worm-gear drive assembly. The system also provides engine RPM and vehicle speed data to the control module which calibrates for increased assistance at lower speeds then tapers off as the vehicle accelerates giving a more balanced, natural feel or 'connection' to the terrain. When the skis encounter an abrupt force that works against the steering input, the torque sensor alerts the control module to apply additional assistance to counteract or 'resist' the negative input. This effectively reduces the steering effort required while enhancing predictability for greater rider confidence and less fatigue.
