Google+ discontinued today. What's this mean to you? If you’re a PSXD Powersports Website dealer-partner, it means we’ve got you covered!

Our team has already begun to remove the Google+ social media button from all sites on which it was included.

We first heard of Google’s plans to discontinue Google+ and several other products last fall (remember Google Allo? Yeah..us either).

After eight years of going head-to-head with Facebook and Twitter, the decision was ultimately reached following a review that uncovered a variety of potential privacy breaches (remember the Facebook privacy scandal? Yeah, us too!)

The transition was originally scheduled over a ten month period, with the platform expected to become completely unavailable in August 2019. The closure has been advanced by four months when another bug was discovered at the end of last year.

WHAT MORE SHOULD I KNOW?

In their announcement made in January 2019, low user retention was also been cited as a reason for the platform being discontinued. In-house data showed that 90% of Google+ sessions lasted less than five seconds.
